TJM is a non-profit jail ministry organization with the mission of bringing hope to those in jail. TJM is built around hope and uplifting people in their darkest moments. The brand identity is built on hope and upward visual representation.
I fully designed the brochure as part of my time at TJM. It is a resource for volunteers to better understand TJM’s mission and achievements.
ProcessThe logo design process started with understanding TJM’s fundamental identity. “Hope” and “New Beginnings” are the ideas that I attempted to convey throughout my process. I found certain visual building blocks that communicated this in a fresh and expansive way.
An “open door” is something I mulled over because of its prominence in the former logo. Another explored concept was connecting letterforms to create a sense of unity or community, which were less prominent motifs.
Final
The logo both reflects the organization's former identity and expands it into the modern era with a new, distinct identity. TJM wants to act as a bridge or a door to a better future in faith. Their former logo was a more direct door image. This refresh resembles an archway. An arch symbolizes new beginnings and points upward in hope. The yellow in the color scheme is a harsh contrast to the deep blue, similar to bringing light into dark places.
Ai disclosure
I use AI selectively in my process for tasks where it is useful, including but not limited to coding and mockups. I approach its use intentionally, balancing it with traditional methods when appropriate. All creative direction, design decisions, and outcomes are my own.
